Registration

To participate in the game, you must register by completing and submitting the original registration form that can be found in Personal Money every month. Registration for the game commences on Sunday, Aug 1, 2004, and the last day of submission is Saturday, April 30, 2005.

You may register as many portfolios as you like, but each must be accompanied by an original registration form printed in Personal Money.

Once the registration form has been received and processed, you will be sent a password via e-mail.

Playing the Game

Once you have logged onto the game website with your password and activated your account, you can begin playing by making investments in unit trust funds with the theoretical cash sum of RM100,000 available in your portfolio.

In playing the game, your objective is to maximise the returns on your portfolio of unit trust funds during the game period. You can:
  • Purchase units either as a lump sum investment or on a regular basis via an auto debit setting;
  • Rebalance your portfolio by switching from one fund to another, or redeeming units and reinvesting in another fund;
  • Redeem units to realise profits from the investment;
  • Hold on to cash to invest later.

These transactions are subject to the funds' real-life conditions and restrictions, including rights to receive distributions or unit splits, and to invoke the six-day cooling off period. (Please refer to the Game Rules for details).

The game website also features resources to help you make informed decisions about your unit trust investments. This includes research and monitoring tools like fund prospectuses and fact sheets, and a library of articles on fund investing and strategies that have been published in Personal Money. On a monthly basis, Personal Money will also feature a special game section with more fund investing articles for the benefit of the players.

The Reward

At the close of the game, your portfolio will be valued based on the closing price on July 29, 2005, the last trading day of the game period. The 25 highest-valued game portfolios will be declared the winners. Each player is only eligible for one prize, regardless of how many portfolios you have registered.
